Typography is simply the appearance of text. It involves the art of assigning how the text should feel to the reader as well as choosing and using fonts in a way that looks good and is easy to read. Here you will find 5 examples of typography that delivered a clear message or that I thought was particularly eye catching.

The Iconic Harry Potter film franchise uses a different font to the original book series. The most important aspect of the franchise is the world building and the posters typography being a mixture of old fashioned calligraphy and fairy ta like whimsy adds the atmosphere perfectly of the wizarding world. Its details such stylized letterforms and decorative elements like the P mimicking the main characters scar, make it visually appealing and memorable. It adds to the overall visual impact and recognizability of the brand.

The books are presented as it was the actual main characters diary. The typography replicates a handwriting style font to give the impression that the text and illustrations are directly from an adolescent young boy. The text is often slightly misaligned as it would be in a diary. This makes the books incredibly immersive.

Regaine is a topical hair regrowth treatment hair care brand. In this advertisment the text visual mimics the look of thick and Lucious hair. The typeography is so well merged into the image that it doubles as both the art and the text. its simplicity and message also draws attention to the product and brand at the bottom right corner of the advertisement.

Earth, Wind & Fire is a legendary American music group that started in the late 60s and has had significant influence in American music history. The typography of their albums often incorporates elements of funk, disco, or retro styles, which is reflective of the band’s style, influences and energetic music. There are commonly nature, fire, wind, or celestial imagery in their artwork. The current typography used in their latest album is as grand as their current status.

Skinshape is a British artist who produces music is influenced by music from the 70s, 80s, 90s. He has a unique sound that combines elements of various genres of that time. There is heavy influence from the psychedelic rock genre and you can see this with the art and typography of his album.
