A wish creates an opportunity for hope and the ability to experience life beyond illness.
⭐STEP 1: Wish Catching
Visit the child in Hong Kong Children’s Hospital (Google Map) to uncover the child’s most cherished wish.
Eligibility of Wish Children:
☑ Aged between 3 and 17
☑ Diagnosed with a critical medical condition
i.e. a progressive, degenerative, or malignant condition that is placing a child’s life in jeopardy
☑ Receiving medical treatments in Hong Kong or Macau
(regardless of nationality and permanent resident of Hong Kong/Macau)
☑ Not having had a wish granted by Make-A-Wish Hong Kong or affiliates before
⭐STEP 2: Collect Applications
Receive wish applications or referrals (Recommendation Form) from doctors, social workers, and parents.
⭐STEP 3: Bounding
Wish Catching could be more than once.
Some children are too shy or cannot design the one-true-wish at the first meeting. You need a lot of patient to gain trust from the children. Ice-breaking games are helpful to make friends with them. If successful, they are willing to share more about themselves with us. i.e., their favorite person, characters, colors, hobbies, foods, dream jobs…… This information will be helpful for the next step – Wish Design.
⭐STEP 4: Wish Design
Design a unique wish journey with an extraordinary experience for her/him.
- If the child has thoughts, let her/him design her wish together.
- If the child is shy, we can plan a surprise for her.

⭐STEP 5: Get Support
Fundraising
The NGO requires donations to support its service. It develops different donation channels to generate donations from donors and corporations. Fundraised donations will all go to support services for children with critical illnesses.

Volunteer Support
Recruit and select suitable volunteers to assist admin work, ward visit, and preparation. Professional volunteer supports like photographer, designer, clown, dancers, tutors, helicopter pilot, etc.
Partner Support
Send invitations to potential sponsors for venue, logistics, materials, etc.
Potential Collaboration
Plan for a win-win proposal for CSR corporate partners to make it happen.
⭐STEP 6: Wish Anticipation
Wish Anticipation can build excitement for the child.
Child patients need a doctor’s approval to leave the hospital. Wish Day may be postponed due to the unstable health condition of the child. It gives the child HOPE and STRENGTH to complete the medical treatments.
⭐STEP 7: Wish Realization
On Wish Day, all together, we will fulfill a wish beyond a child’s wildest imagination.
The positive impact of a wish lasts long after and spreads to everyone involved in the Wish Journey.
